Find a verified accountant in Luxembourg
The Luxembourg Institute of Accountants (Institut Luxembourgeois des Comptables, ILC) publishes a directory of accountants whose status it has checked. There is no commission and no paid ranking: you contact the accountant directly, and every profile says whether they currently accept new clients.

Accountant, chartered accountant, statutory auditor: who does what
In Luxembourg, an accountant (comptable) is a liberal profession that requires a business permit (autorisation d'établissement). Accountants keep the books and prepare annual accounts and tax returns within the limits set by the regulations.
The title of chartered accountant (expert-comptable) is protected by the law of 10 June 1999 and reserved for members of the Ordre des experts-comptables. Statutory audits are reserved for approved statutory auditors (réviseurs d'entreprises agréés), listed by the IRE. The ILC is a professional association: it is neither an order nor a regulator and grants no title.
How to choose
Check the permit or registration first, then compare working languages, the type of clients the accountant serves (self-employed, small companies, holding companies, non-profits), the software they use and their availability. Ask for a written engagement letter that sets out the work, the responsibilities and the fees. The French glossary explains the technical terms you will meet, each with its official source.
For accountants
Self-employed accountants, chartered accountants, statutory auditors, employed accountants (including fund accountants) and students can join the ILC. Membership includes a verified profile for self-employed professionals, resources, training and working groups. Details and fees are on the membership page (in French); you can also write to contact@ilc.lu in English.
